Alternatives Education Team
Alt-Ed Talks exists to deliver high quality Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) that understands young people as individuals and recognises their diverse abilities, values and backgrounds.
The teams has been delivering RSE sessions in both schools and youth groups since 1996. We regularly update our content and are striving to find new ways to help young people engage with RSE.
The Alt-Ed Talks can be delivered in either timetabled lessons or extracurricular workshops. The broad subjects we cover include:
- Healthy Relationships
- Pregnancy Choices
The school lessons are delivered by members of our team and are designed to fit in with the national curriculum OFSTED SMSC expectations.
If you are interested or have any questions please contact us.
Alt-Ed Talks also runs a faith-sensitive relationship and sex education website called ‘Faith, Relationships, and Young People’ (FRYP) www.fryp.org.uk
FRYP not only has loads of information on subjects surrounding relationships and sex but also covers the standpoints from all faith contexts. We hope that the information and support it provides will help young people make intelligent and informed choices about relationships and sex.
www.fryp.org.uk grew from the needs of our local area, Newham, where the 2011 Census showed that religious affiliation runs at around 85% in families and it is estimated that 50% of young people attend a place of worship regularly. It aims to be sensitive to the values of these young people while being fully comprehensive in nature.
